The Dirt on Dishwashing

March 27, 2008

Is it just me or does it feel like dirty dishes never go away? I used to be one of those people that only hand wash dishes because the dishwasher didn’t clean well enough for me. But that recently changed when our house went on the market since we can’t have dirty dishes laying around in the sink. These 2in1 action packs came to my dishwashing rescue! They are ridiculously easy to use, and best of all, the dishes come out squeaky clean! No measuring and no mess. I also found out that dishwashing is being ‘green’. That means more time saved and no more puddles around my feet, all while helping our planet.

I found out that bad dishwasher outcomes can also be attributed to hard water. Also, some dishwashers take longer to cycle, but are set this way to conserve power and water. fyi.

i think the dishwasher needs to be full to make it worth the water supposedly saved (plus, it depends on how much water you use while handwashing–do we actually use a whole dishwasher load of water to handwash that many dishes so do you actually save water?). and there’s also a lot of energy used by a dishwasher. but also, that ’study’ is apparently done by dishwasher manufacturers. so of course dishwashers win. :)

i would be wary of this idea that dishwashers are more green…

I completely agree that dishwashers should be full for optimal impact. :)
